Account Set Up Charge/Change of Occupancy Charge*

This Charge is approved by our regulator, the Ontario Energy Board, and covers the cost of opening/transferring a new account, obtaining the meter reading and amending records.

All business customers opening a new account are required to pay a security deposit; exceptions may apply 1) where the customer provides a business letter of reference from a gas or electricity distributor in Canada confirming “Good Payment History” - please submit with this application, if available, 2) where a customer provides an irrevocable letter of credit from a chartered bank or trust company; or a performance bond, 3) Other than a customer in a >5,000kW demand rate class, a satisfactory credit check, min. credit rating of A, from a nationally recognized credit bureau, made at the customer’s expense; report must be for a period within the past six months. * Business customers shall be permitted to pay deposits in equal instalments up to a four-month period.
